The first interview which is supposed to "get to know you" it's basically a technical interview which is not cool the fact that they don't tell you beforehand, you go with your head in a totally different mindset. Just these first 2 stages took about 4 weeks. Then, another, more lengthy questionnaire, and then, if you get pass those you start with the interviews. First you have to do a cover letter, answer like 7 questions and a programming exercise. I interviewed at You Need A Budget Interview I am so lucky to wake up every day and go to work here." I didn't make it onto the next round, which would have been a paid project exercise. I tried to ask some slightly critical questions about directions that their team specifically was going, and the answer was re-routed to something along the lines of, "Working here is as wonderful as it sounds. I saw some other comments mentioning that the team seems to give the same cookie cutter answers about how fantastic the work culture is - and that was what I experienced as well. The energy was just a little bit off for me - I think I wasn't a fan of the notetaker role - YNAB seems like so much fun, and I came in with so much energy that just depleted while talking with the team. One person was the main interviewer, and the other was a note taker. Then, I moved onto a video interview with two team members. you can ask a lot in these initial stages I guess!). I poured many many many hours into this, which seemed like was what they wanted (when you have the best company culture. Some of them were questions about culture fit, some about experience, and some were sample scenarios to answer. It paid off because I made it to the second round - which entailed answering many many more questions (about 20?). I put A WHOLE LOT of time into updating my resume, writing the cover letter, and answering those questions. But first up was a pretty extensive cover letter along with 4-5 questions to answer, along with submitting my resume. This was about 6 or 7 months ago, so I don't remember exactly. I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at You Need A Budget in Jan 2022 Interview That said, with the level of investment required for the interview process, I'm sure it would have been even more disappointing to not receive an offer at the end. While it was a challenging and time consuming multi-stage process, I felt that it helped me to be certain that I felt good about the job, and made me feel that they were really confident in me to make an offer as well. The communication about timelines and next steps was always great. Dedicating some time to studying YNAB's support documents before the sample email project is a must, especially if you're not already familiar with the platform. The interview questions were really thoughtful, and the interviewers I spoke with took the time to give quality answers to my questions. It's definitely a long and in-depth process - Cover letter with a few specific questions, a cultural fit questionnaire, a chat interview with a sample support email project, and finally a video interview. I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at You Need A Budget in Feb 2022 Interview When you don’t, I think it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of great candidates. I believe that when candidates get that far into the process, you should give them something to takeaway, positive or constructive, since you obviously liked them enough to keep moving them forward. After interviewing with them for nearly two months and putting so much time and work into the process for a role & company that I was really excited about, not receiving feedback will deter me from looking at open positions here again. After sending in my resume, cover letter & questionnaire, filling out an additional 15 questions, doing 2 interviews, and completing a project, it was incredibly disheartening to be told, not only was I not selected, but that they couldn’t provide ANY feedback. They are very open and honest about the timeline from the beginning, so I knew it could possibly take 6+ weeks and I respected that they wanted to ensure they were bringing the right person into their company. The interview process is long, as every other reviewer has stated. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at You Need A Budget Interview
